Singapore – Portek International has secured, in the month of July 2013, several new engineering orders with a total value of about US$5 million. This includes the first major project with the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (“PTP”) in Malaysia and repeat orders from existing customers such as Papua New Guinea Ports Corporation Limited (“PNGPCL”), ICTSI’s subsidiary PT Makassar Terminal Services (“MTS”) and PSA Corporation. (“PSA”)
At PTP, the scope of work involves the refurbishment of a fleet of 10 units of NOELL and ZPMC ship-to-shore gantry cranes in order to achieve a higher level of availability and operational performance. The project includes the renewal of the trolley rail system, operator’s cabin, boom pin system and improvement on the trolley motion systems.
For PNGPCL, Portek will be refurbishing part of their rubber-tyred gantry cranes (“RTGs”) fleet to ensure higher levels of operational productivity in the ports of Moresby and Lae in Papua New Guinea. While in Indonesia, Portek has been engaged to raise the height of RTGs for MTS in Makassar. For PSA, Portek has been contracted to conduct repairs on ship-to-shore gantry cranes in Singapore.
Commented Mr Tok Soon Chong, Chief Technical Officer of Portek, “Over the past 25 years, Portek has refurbished more than 250 container cranes in ports all over the world. We are delighted with the confidence shown in us by the management teams of PTP, PNGPCL, ICTSI and PSA. We look forward to working closely with them.”
